New York exhibition shows creations by McQueen
One year after the suicide of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen shows of today, an elaborate exhibition in New York creations by designer. “With his fascination for the grotesque, the horror, the sublime was Alexander McQueen nothing but a great artist,” Bolton said curator Andrew at the opening gala on Monday, the numerous rock stars, models and Hollywood stars attended, including Oscar-winner Colin Firth .
The chief designer of the fashion house Alexander McQueen, Sarah Burton, who had designed the dress for the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William, praised McQueen as “absolute genius”. He had been but above all a romantic. The exhibition in New York’s Metropolitan Museum is therefore designed in various “romantic parts,” as the “Romantic mind” or the “romantic primitivism.” McQueen himself had once described as “romantic schizophrenics.
McQueen had on 11 February 2010 at the age of 40 years committed suicide. For 19 years, the designer had impressed the fashion world with his extravagance, to be traced in the New York exhibition. The exhibition will be up to 31 July shown.
