End Violence against Women – AVON Believe World Tour
Domestic violence also known as domestic abuse is a great dilemma of 21st centuary,women are subjected to domestic violence in underdeveloped as well as developed countries, one in three women may suffer from abuse and violence in her life time, every woman who thinks she is the only victim of violence has to know that there are many more.
Domestic violence against women is the issue which is very debatable, throughout the years many agencies and international NGO’s has done a lot on this issue to enhance awareness among women and enable them to understand their rights. Many multilateral agencies are working on the agenda to stop violence against women and to some extent they have succeeded in achievement of their mission.
Widespread appeal of this issue also caught the attention of many multinational corporations, many companies are working on this agenda to stop domestic violence against women as a part of their social responsibility campaign. AVON is one of them, AVON is company for women, provides a wide range of products that include makeup, skincare, bath and body, jewllery, fashion etc.Fashion category includes apparels, handbags, accessories and footwear .AVON’s wants that its women should be aware about latest fashion and should keep them up to date, a part from it being a company for women AVON feels responsibility to work for women issues and one of top marked is domestic violence against women.
In order to work on agenda “End violence against women” AVON has planned AVON believe world tour for the year 2011,the campaign was launched on 25th January 2011 at 125th anniversary celebration, it was launched by AVON’s global ambassador Reese Witherspoon and CEO Andrea Jung, the purpose of this world tour is to visit 16 cities Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Istanbul, New York, Chicago, Mexico City, Warsaw, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Manila, Shanghai, New Delhi and Johannesberg.125,000 AVON representatives will participate in this campaign to work on this agenda and to stop domestic violence against women.
A United Nations (UN) report has ranked countries that are notorious in terms of domestic violence and Istanbul is one of them, moreover UN development fund for women reported title “No More! The right of women to live free from violence in Latin America and Caribbean”, it was released in 2007 and has extended its work in many countries.
Hence we can say that “domestic violence against women “ has become a global issues and steps are being taken by multilateral agencies and multinational companies with support from local government to resolve this issue and protect women from domestic abuse.
