Miley Cyrus’s parents are divorced

After 17 years of marriage the parents of Miley Cyrus , Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus are divorcing. The divorce papers were presented on Wednesday in Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences.

“As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for our family,” he said in a statement .

“We’re trying to deal with some personal issues. We welcome your thoughts and prayers.”

The couple has five children, including actress and singer. The couple began dating in 1991 and married in secret on December 28, 1993 at his home near Nashville, Tennessee.

Billy Ray had been previously married to Cindy Smith, a sales representative who met while on tour in Ohio. They divorced in 1991.
