Nikki Explains New American Idol Rules
It is prime time for reality television and American Idol is in full swing! We’ve gone live and they are doing things completely different this year. In case anyone is confused by the new format, I have taken the liberty of explaining to the best of my ability. Instead of starting live with 24 people (12 girls and 12 boys) they started with 36. These 36 are separated into three groups of twelve. Each week, starting this past Tuesday, one group performs and America votes. The following night, Ryan reveals the three people with the most votes. Those three people are guaranteed a spot in the top twelve.
So, do the math, after three people go through from each of the three groups, there will be nine people in the top twelve. Where do the three more come from you ask? It’ll be a wild card race! Three wild cards plus the nine guaranteed makes our top twelve! And there you have it, folks. Now, you also may be wondering why this change? Even I can’t figure that out. In my opinion, if isn’t broken you don’t need to fix it. However, here are some theories:
1) New judge, new rules. Many think that adding Kara brought change.
2) Poor economy. I still haven’t fully analyzed that theory but it was presented to me by ours truly, John. He may have something there but we just may never know.
3) Increase ratings. Many faithful idol viewers have gotten upset with the show in recent seasons especially with the affects of “Vote for the Worst”. Maybe they are trying to change things up to make it more appealing.
And that’s all I’ve got. Everyone should be watched Idol, I have high hopes for a good season. If that’s not enough to convince you, know that this show has the Miss Kendra seal of approval. She’s been digging this season and so should you!
